Fall Meeting, 2004
KFLA Conference
Pittsburg, Kansas
The format for the fall meeting of the Kansas Chapter of AATF
will be a little different than usual. At 4:30 p.m. on Friday, October 8, we
will meet on the campus of Pittsburg State University for a brief business meeting
and presentation of the French Educator of the Year Award (the building and
room number will be published in the KFLA conference program). Then we will
adjourn to a French dinner at the Old Miner's Inn in Alba, Missouri, about a
30-minute drive from Pittsburg. As announced earlier, the dinner should cost
somewhere between $19.00 and $40.00, depending on the entrée and drink.
According to several officers who have eaten at this restaurant, the food is
superb and quite French although it costs more than your average dinner out.
Because seating at the restaurant is limited, we need to know NO LATER THAN
SEPTEMBER 27 if you plan to attend so that we may reserve enough space. We cannot
guarantee space for you for reservations made after September 27, but we will
do our best to accommodate you. We will try to help provide transportation to
the restaurant if you need a ride. Please contact Murle Mordy to make reservations
for dinner and transportation.
On Saturday, October 9, thanks to the initiative of Mary Alice Schroeger, our
current President, there will be a number of French sessions offered during
the KFLA conference. You will need to pay the membership fee of $25 to belong
to KFLA and the conference fee of $70, but with so many more French sessions
this year, we think you will agree that the fees are worth it. Please see the
list of sessions elsewhere in this bulletin. For registration information on
the KFLA Conference, see page 19.
